I’m Mattijs van Zanten, and UnyqDesign is the place where my passion for creating comes to life.I am based in Oud Ade, the Netherlands. My journey began quietly, slowly, over years of working with my hands. I started out renovating houses, learning the patience and precision that comes with working with wood and materials that have character. Along the way, I began making furniture for myself and I quickly realised something important: this is what I love to do.
What drives me is more than just craftsmanship. I love to innovate, to think differently, and to challenge what people expect from furniture. For me, art isn’t something that only hangs on a wall, it’s something that can live in your home, be functional, and still make a statement. The curve of a chair, the pattern in a tabletop, the colors in an epoxy inlay all of these can transform furniture into art that you use and experience every day.
Every piece I create is meant to last a lifetime. I don’t follow trends, I follow ideas. My goal is to design furniture that is timeless, functional, and beautiful; pieces that not only serve a purpose but also spark emotion and decorate a space just like a painting or sculpture would.
